Campbelltown City Council in partnership with the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice produced a youth film initiative, Get The Picture, that invited young people from both the public and private housing areas of Campbelltown to learn film making skills. Developed by Campbelltown Arts Centre, the aim of this project was to stimulate positive youth interaction in the community through the provision of a structured, creative arts education program. The participants experienced facets of filmmaking such as script development, camera skills and filming, sound design and music, editing, performing, storyboarding and location scouting. Using their own personal stories, experiences and ideas, the participants worked collaboratively towards creating short films that promote a positive community image.
