Stories Unfold
Stories Unfold was a Community Arts Project designed to reach community members with restricted mobility. People living in isolation were targeted - people living with a mental illness or a disability, the frail aged and carers. Each participant was given access to art materials and invited to contribute wording and an accompanying image to a shared story that grew as it travelled to other participants. Volunteers and Council staff would visit the participant's home, collect the stories and images, then deliver them to the next person, who would add on to the previous story. This enabled the participants to constantly connect with each other as they read and related to each other's stories, and friendships developed. The volunteers and Council staff involved in the project were a constant source of support to the participants and the culminating stories and images were printed into a booklet for Council's archives.
