Write around the Murray is a literary and story based festival managed by AlburyCity libraries staff, in conjunction with a community committee. The festival has operated for 4 years, with the most recent festival occurring from 8 - 12 September 2010. The festival is marketed as a celebration of writing, illustrating & storytelling and in 2010 incorporated 50 events, 30 presenters over 5 jam-packed days, with the Albury LibraryMuseum as the festival hub. Audience numbers grew by 40% in 2010, with 3300 attendees over the five days.

Events included a schools program with Melina Marchetta, Journalist Chris Masters as keynote speaker, forums on the future of journalism and publishing, short story competitions, book sale, literary pub crawl, demonstrations of book-making and e-books, writing and illustration workshops, indigenous storytelling, a literary lunch, a festival bookclub, poetry performances, literary woodfire oven event and the Spatial Stories public art and storytelling project.
